Who We Are:
Grace and Hope Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Christian, private, school. Our vision is to be an active center of discovery and investigation where learners enter, but self-directed, service-committed, Christ-centered, world-leaders leave.
We are located in Petersburg, VA, and are proud to serve the families of Petersburg, Hopewell, Fort Lee and the surrounding areas.
Grace and Hope Academy was born out of a passion to offer an extraordinary and innovative learning experience to all children, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture or socio-economic status – while preparing them to be the Christ-centered leaders of tomorrow. We are passionate about engaging with the community and its families to produce lasting transformation and change. Research supports our passion. Schools, families and communities are stronger when the three work together toward the best interest of each entity’s need. We strive to be a nexus that promotes and encourages cooperative learning, working, service, and ultimately growth. Our classically-influenced curriculum includes latin, grammar, and foreign language from the earliest grade levels. Students participate in both collaborative, project-based and quest-based learning activities and independent, self-directed assignments.
The Intimacy and Innovation of Microschools
In addition, Grace and Hope Academy is a microschool.
As a microschool, we champion personalized learning, technological innovations, discovery, investigation and facilitative instruction styles, over lecture based classrooms. Further, we understand the importance of forging strong and meaningful relationships. At Grace and Hope Academy, these are forged through communities. Instead of traditional grades students work in “communities“. Communities are multi-grade level cohorts that allow students to study and discover together.
Within these small intimate groups, students organize, plan, discover, play, investigate, debate, challenge one another and grow.
In addition, a one computer to student ratio allows us to utilize technology in innovative ways to engage and inspire.
We have a passion to be a light, to offer hope, and to plant seeds of better tomorrow, watered by the love of Christ.
That’s our passion. Now, we’re hoping to share it with you.
